INTRODUCTION TO SALTWATER AQUARIUM
People who feel depressed or stressed often go to the sea/ocean side to get peace, people feel attracted when they see the beautiful and colorful marine species roaming in the water but going every day to the seaside is quite a time taking thing for the workaholics as they are so busy in work so people think if they cannot go to the seaside why not to bring such an aesthetic view in the home/offices. In 1832, Jeanne Villepreux-Power was one to design the first-ever perceivable glass aquarium. Aquarium means the transparent water tank where fishes used to live, basically different type of water makes the aquarium different such as the freshwater aquarium, saltwater aquarium. Saltwater is the kind of solution that contains a huge dissolved concentration of inorganic ions.
The world’s first-ever saltwater fish keepers are known as Romans. Keeping an aquarium in homes/offices is one of the most popular hobbies throughout the world, by around 60 million aquarium lovers worldwide, the aquarium has been set as a decoration in the room or any place where people gathers not in an isolated room where no one can go cause there is no use of keeping aquarium over there as the aquarium is made for the purpose of being watched. Many aquarists love to try different types of aquariums and saltwater is one of their priorities in terms of look and beauty. People worldwide have been attracted by saltwater aquariums because of their charm, over the years. Stephen spotted said that a saltwater aquarium is a piece of pleasure so aquarists should place it where anyone can enjoy its view. A massive demand has been recorded for marine fish for the saltwater aquarium over the past two decades. In the past two decades, researcher Cassiano said that due to high admiration of the ocean has shown the high demand for saltwater fish. According to Tc Champigny, saltwater aquariums are full of multicolored fishes, corals, and captivating algae which bring people pleasure and joy. According to one of the researchers the saltwater aquarium includes a variety of marine species such as clownfish, damselfish, gobies, wrass, dotty backs, lionfish eels, and angelfishes (the most popular ones). Due to the increase in the need for marine fish in public, a public marine research aquarium was officially organized at the Annamalai University connected to the center of advanced study in marine biology.
The dealing of marine embellishing fishes is the key part of the marine aquarium trade industry. According to Zhixing su, almost (90-95) % of marine species are untamed caught, thousands of known coral reef fish species are available which causes a consequential threat to natural resources. According to Richard L. Pyle the captive propagation work on trading is currently very limited. And the most economical method of obtaining a large number of saltwater aquarium species will be continued for many years which is getting fish from the coral reef.
Comparing to the freshwater aquarium, the saltwater aquarium is expensive and difficult to maintain in homes because marine species used to live in a stable environmental condition marine species are more likely to be affected by sudden changes in the environment which needs to be recorded more often to have a healthy aquarium. According to the researcher Tc Champigny, the aquarist should be active in the tank’s water as marine species are dependent on water quality and temperature changes. Saltwater fishes also depend on tank size, putting too many fishes in the small-sized tanks can cause fishes to die because they need a large space to live and generate energy so always buy the larger sized aquarium. According to Brett, Elliott, and Dutta basically there are some water parameters that are key responsible for the fish’s behavior such as temperature, Ph., salinity, and ammonia which should be tested to keep the aquarium healthy. According to the researcher Catherine A.Hadfield, the aquarium's environment and water parameters in the tank are responsible for the fish's health. According to VanDam and Pauly fishes required oxygen which causes them to produce energy for body maintenance. Another researcher REV.J.G.Wood.M.A once said that providing light to the marine aquariums in excess amounts can cause trouble for saltwater aquariums because it supports the growth of conferva and seaweed.
