CRICKET OBSESSION IN PAKISTAN
There are many sports that have been invented till now and many of them are most played and loved and cricket is one of them which is being played internationally. However, hockey is the national sport of Pakistan but the craze and obsession for cricket in the people of Pakistan is exceptional.
Cricket is one of the most liked sports in the world and in Pakistan, it originated in mid of 90s.pakistan cricket board(PCB) is the permanent member of the international cricket council (ICC)and leads Pakistan's national cricket team. Pakistan got its self-determination in 1947 and played the first-ever match resulting in victory in a test match against India in 1952. Since then, people's interest in the match between India and Pakistan had always been intense and record-breaking.
Pakistan won the first ICC world cup in 1992 against England. People of Pakistan consider cricket as an extraordinary piece of Entertainment people shares an impregnable bond with cricket which can never be replaced by another sport. From young to elder everyone is fond of it, they do not just have interest in playing but watching others while playing also add the same level of interest in them. But what are the reasons that the people of Pakistan are so obsessed with cricket? there are many reasons which collectively make Pakistan people become obsessed with cricket some of them are mentioned below;
Cost is Cheaper
Pakistan is one of the developing countries where the majority of people belong to middle-class families who barely can afford other life-saving expenses. Meanwhile, a sport like a cricket whose cost is cheap and everyone can afford this is something which is no less than a miracle. The main cause of its cheapness is its variety, unlike other sports like football or hockey, it doesn't depend on some particular types of equipment. Its equipment varies and depends upon a group of age like kids play with a bat, ball, and wickets made of plastic which is the cheapest of all and teenager's used to play with tape ball along with bat made of wood, and elders play with a hardball in fields.
No Need for Special Ground
One of the major causes behind the cricket craze is its independence of place to be played. Cricket is a sport where almost every Pakistani have witnessed watching people playing in street or on any empty ground. In Pakistan, from kids to elders everyone goes in the noon to the street or some empty space makes their teams and plays, even they clean the pitch by themselves. Every Pakistani national player has once been a street player.
Cricket as a Career
Nowadays, even a kid who loves cricket if they asked what they want to be as an elder, that kid will quickly say I want to be a cricketer. Now people in Pakistan have started taking cricket as career parents are supporting their children to go to cricket. Which eventually made cricket even more popular in people of Pakistan

PSL comes in after every year and every year the excitement between the people of Pakistan goes high and never goes down.
